| slo |

dc.description.abstract-translated | The experiences with globalization in different part of the world are different. There is a large heterogeneity in the degree of globalization over time and across countries and economic and geographic regions of the World, as well as regions within countries. The employment structure of a country shows how the labour force is divided between the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors. The employment structure of a given country can tell you quite a lot about its economy. The article analyses impact of economic globalization on changes in the employment structure in the Czech and Slovak Republic according to main sectors of economy and in selected sections after 1993. In the 1990s, the structural changes in Czechoslovakia were induced not only by the decline in industrial production in lowperforming state owned enterprise, but also by the decline in production in cooperatives and state owned farms. The decline in production was accompanied by the dismissal of employees from both productive sectors of economy. The most significant changes are experienced in so called “structurally affected regions”, whose production prior to 1989 concentrated on coal mining, metallurgy and heavy machinery. The acquired data show evidence that spatial units are continuously diverging from specialisation to diversification. This diversification process leads to more stable structure of employment, which is currently being affected only to a very limited degree. | cze |
