| dc.description.abstract | Práce se bude zabývat interpretací populární fantastické tetralogie současného amerického spisovatele Christophera Paoliniho, Odkaz Dračích jezdců (Inheritance Cycle), konkrétně úlohou nadpřirozených a fantastických bytostí. Teoretickým východiskem bude přiblížení různých typů fantastických postav v anglické a americké dobrodružné fantasy literatuře pro mladé čtenáře. Samostatná kapitola bude věnována životu a tvorbě Christophera Paoliniho.
V dalších kapitolách bude hlavní pozornost zaměřena na typologii nadpřirozených postav v Odkazu Dračích jezdců (od draků přes elfy k urgalům a trpaslíkům), jejich funkci, charakteristiku (typické znaky) a vztah k hrdinovi, dále pak na úlohu prostředí a analýzu hlavních motivů. Součástí práce bude i zamyšlení nad Paoliniho inspirací, zvláště pokud jde o dílo J.R.R. Tolkiena. V tomto ohledu se práce pokusí stručně poukázat i na význam fantastického ("starověkého") jazyka a jeho souvislost s tématem moci. | cze |

| dc.description.abstract-translated | The thesis deals with the interpretation of the popular fantasy tetralogy by contemporary American writer Christopher Paolini, The Legacy of the Dragon Riders (Inheritance Cycle), especially with the role of the supernatural and fantastic beings. The theoretical starting point will be an introduction to the different types of fantastic characters in English and American adventure fantasy literature for the young readers. One chapter will be devoted to the life and works of Ch. Paolini.
The following chapters will focus on the typology of supernatural characters in The Legacy of the Dragon Riders (from dragons through elves to urgals and dwarves), their function, characteristics (typical traits) and the relationship to the hero, as well as on the role of the setting and an analysis of the main themes. The thesis will also include a reflection on Paolini's inspiration, especially with regard to the work of J.R.R. Tolkien. In this respect, it will also attempt to briefly highlight the importance of fantastic ("ancient") language and its connection to the theme of power. | eng |
