dc.description.abstract-translated | Competitive and regeneration abilities of the rare moss Hamatocaulis vernicosus were studied in the field and in the common garden experiments. A transplatation experiment was carried out to study whether replacement of H. vernicosus into its potential competitive mosses, Calliergonella cuspidata and Sphagnum fallax, will effect the growth. The growth of H. vernicosus was not effected amidst C. cuspidata; however there was a significant decrease of biomass production amidst S. fallax. The second experiment compared regeneration of H. vernicosus and C. cuspidata from different parts of the stems. C. cuspidata regenerated better and it was able to produce new shoots even from leaves, while H. vernicosus regenerated only from larger parts of stems. | eng |
