dc.description.abstract-translatedThis thesis is focused on olfactory communication in Old World monkeys and apes. Olfaction has been generally overlooked in these groups of primates. Increasing number of studies, however shows that olfactory communication may play important role in their lives. The main aim of this thesis was to summarize published literature about olfaction and its role mainly in social interactions. Firts, I described the anatomy of the sense of smell and production of chemical stimuli. In the second part I discussed available literature on the use of chemical signals in the social behavior and reproduction.eng
