| cze |

dc.description.abstract-translated | The thesis studies a relationship of art and totalitarian regime based on the situation of Christian authors in the years 1938-1960. The first part focuses on the general principles of how the totalitarian regime approaches the art, by what means it influences it, and how it deals with forces that are in conflict with its ideology. The second part concentrates on the status of catholic writers after 1945, while also mentioning their situation during the World War II. Timeline wise, the war events, two purges of the Syndicate of Czech writers (one after May 1945 and the other after February 1948), and two trials of Christian writers that took place in Prague and Brno in 1952, are regarded as the significant landmarks. Individual efforts to help the imprisoned writers are mentioned as well, and attention is also given to the changes in attitude towards these authors by the Syndicate of Czechoslovakian writers in the fifties. | eng |
