| dc.description.abstract | Cílem této diplomové práce je srovnání dvou významných děl americké literatury - The Marble Faun (Mramorový Faun) a Daisy Miller (Daisy Millerová), kde dochází k setkání evropské a americké zkušenosti. Práce se zabývá vlivem N. Hawthornea na tvorbu H. Jamese, problematikou puritanismu a katolické tradice, prožíváním lásky hlavních postav, funkcí prostředí. V neposlední řadě se práce zaměřuje na otázku viny, neviny a posuzuje vliv konkrétních symbolů v obou dílech. | cze |

The diploma thesis considers the influence of Nathaniel Hawthorne on Henry James´s literary production. It also deals with the problem of Puritanism and Catholic tradition, the main protagonists´experience of love and the function of the setting.
