| dc.description.abstract-translated | This thesis has two parts: In the first part describes role of ants in tropical forest and bring an overview of effects of succession, vertical stratification and cycle of the day on communities of ants in tropical forests. In addition, there is a description of main sampling methods used for ants and their limits. In the second part, experiment from lowland forest in New Guinea is presented with focus on changes of species diversity and composition of ant community within succesion, different strata and day-night cycle. I proved that primary forest has higher species richness than disturbed primary forest and secondary forest. The species composition has changed between primary and secondary forest in individual vertical layers of forest and different species composition was found in different strata. The day-night cycle does not affect the species composition, but ant activity of ants was changing between day- and night sampling. | eng |
