| dc.description.abstract-translated | Historical biogeography and phylogeny of the cichlid genus Bujurquina is examined within the eastern Andean piedmont based on newly collected material. The results based on molecular phylogeny using mitochondrial DNA and morphological characteristics revealed eleven putative species instead of two presently described species. The biogeographic implications of the reconstructed phylogenies have been compared with the geological history and selected groups of organisms of the area. | eng |
