| dc.description.abstract-translated | This bachelor thesis is focused on the occurrence of intestinal protist Blastocystis sp. in non-human primates held in captivity. The main aim of this study was to summarize all available infomation about Blastocystis sp. with a special focus on the occurrence, prevalence and diversity of its subtypes in wild and captive non-human primates. Blastocystis sp. and its role in health and disease is still unclear in both humans and non-human primates. Given that recent studies indicate that Blastocystis sp. is a commensal organism rather than a pathogen and has a close association with the diversity of intestinal bacteriome. Thus, i also focus on summarizing this information in my thesis. | eng |
