| dc.description.abstract | Cryoconite holes on glaciers are small holes filled with water, and microorganisms, and they are important habitats found on the surface of many glaciers worldwide. However, little research has been conducted on how cryoconite holes in close proximity and distributed over the same glacier differ in their microbial composition. This thesis focuses on the microbial composition of Arctic cryoconite holes from Svalbard glaciers situated in close proximity. A particular focus is placed on the comparison of their composition to already existing literature. | cze |

| dc.description.defence |
Dr. Štěrba welcomed the student and commission members; all members of the commission were present. The student presented the theoretical background on the glaciers, cryoconites, the microbiome of glaciers, and the studied area. Next, the methods and results were shown. The supervisor, Dr Šabacká, and the supervisor, Dr. Věchtová presented their reviews. The student answered all the questions of the opponent and also questions from the commission members on the importance of this research, the source of microorganisms in the glaciers, the composition of the water in cryoconites, the way of cryoconite production, the relative abundance of cyanobacteria vs proteobacteria
